Sociology

Experiences in Sociology

The bachelor of arts major in sociology focuses on the study of group life and its consequences. Students become proficient in the sociology as a social science, combining scientific and humanistic perspectives in the study of urban and rural life, family patterns and relationships, social class, technology and communications, health care and illness, community responses to disasters, social movements, and contemporary problems. Students develop research and critical thinking skills needed to confront social problems, inequities, and unjust systems. The student experience includes opportunities for membership in student organizations, internships (not for degree credit), honor societies and more.
