Social Work
Experiences in Social Work

The bachelor of social work is completed in three phases. Any student may declare the social work major and is required to complete a minimum of 45 hours in a specified degree plan before submitting a formal application to the second phase. Upon successful completion of coursework in the second phase, the social work student may apply to the third and final phase, field education (internship). Scholarships, internships, and dedicated student organizations are among the many opportunities within the program.

Any student may declare a social work major and may enroll in SOWK 1350, SOWK 2375, as well as SOWK elective courses (Phase I). Most general education core curriculum and liberal arts courses must be completed before applying to Phase II.

Apply to Phase II of the BSW program after completing all Phase I required courses as well as completing at least 45 hours of required coursework with an overall GPA of 2.5.
Meet with the Applied Arts Advising Center for questions about the major.
