Students engage in real-world scenarios within the safety of the classroom environment through immersive simulations and collaborative projects. This hands-on approach allows for practice in journalism skills, navigation of ethical dilemmas, and development of problem-solving abilities in settings that mirror the complexities of the industry. By experiencing the newsroom in the classroom, students not only gain theoretical knowledge, but a robust skill sets and confidence to thrive in the dynamic field of journalism. Students may participate in faculty-led study abroad or Study in America trips, learn with peers in Living and Learning Communities, develop a professional community at networking events, compete in student competitions, or join student organizations for a well-rounded experience. An optional concentration in sports media is available.
