The bachelor of science degree with major in geography urban and regional planning covers geographic foundations combined with areas of study affecting the design and implementation of communities, cities, and regions. Students learn the fundamentals of maps, mapmaking, geographic information technologies, and study cultural and communal issues that affect designs. The major emphasizes the physical science elements of geographical study. Students can tailor their personal interests by choosing from five minors: environmental studies, geographic information science, geography, geology, and nature and heritage tourism. Students may participate in faculty-led study abroad or Study in America trips, develop a professional community at association or networking events, or join student organizations for a well-rounded experience.
