Education (Elementary Education)
Experiences in Elementary Education

Teachers and teacher leaders for the elementary level (early childhood through grade six core subjects with English as a second language) complete the bachelor of science degree in education. Teacher certification is achieved with double major in one or more disciplines including human development and family studies; family and consumer sciences; art; speech; choral, band, mariachi, or string music; dance; theatre; English language arts and reading; history; social studies; French, Spanish, or German; agriculture, food and natural resources; life science; chemistry; mathematics; and physics. Students may participate in faculty-led study abroad or Study in America trips, learn with peers in Living and Learning Communities, develop a professional community at networking events, or join student organizations for a well-rounded experience.

This certificate is valid for five years and must be renewed, and candidates must apply for issuance after completing the Educator Preparation Program.
