Experiences in Art

The art major offers a unique opportunity to combine study in art with a minor that sparks student's intellectual and creative interests to create a program that is unique to each person and prepares them for future goals. Drawing from courses in art education, art history, communication design, photography, and studio art, students gain a dynamic understanding of formal and contextual approaches to the study of art from past and present and learn how to use these criteria as the basis for critical thought. Students can pursue research and expand their education in the exceptional archives, galleries, and museums that stretch across the region from Austin to San Antonio, and students can participate in the department’s dedicated study abroad program. The student experience is enhanced through optional participation in student organizations, internships, events and more.
